5.1 Overview
The Log Toolbar is located above the Log List and provides functions for controlling and analyzing processing logs. The Log search is on the right of the toolbar (see 5.7).
If the window is too narrow for all captions, some buttons show only their icon. Their name appears when you point at them with the mouse.
5.2 Filter Log Entries
Opens the Log filter window, which allows you to restrict the displayed log entries according to various criteria. You see changes in the Log List right away; OK applies them, cancelling restores the previous filter. The filter stays saved until you change it; the status bar shows how many entries it hides under Log Filter.
Filter Criteria
| Criterion |
Description |
| Date processed |
Time of processing: "is within the last" or "is older than" (days, weeks, months, years) or "is between" two dates |
| Original path / Current path |
Folder of the file before or after processing |
| Original file name / Current file name |
File name before or after processing |
| Profile name |
Name of the profile that processed the file |
| Processing type |
All, regularly processed, retried after error or subsequently processed |
For paths, file names and the profile name you can choose "contains", "starts with", "ends with" and "equals", each also negated. Upper and lower case do not matter. All criteria must be met.
Use Case
Filters are particularly useful when you: - Are looking for errors in a specific profile - Want to review the processing of a specific day - Are searching for specific files in the logs
For a quick search across all details of an entry, use the Log search (see 5.7).
5.3 Create Excel Report
Creates a detailed Excel report about the processing history.
Report Content
The Excel report contains several worksheets:
| Worksheet |
Content |
| Overview |
Overall statistics (number of processes, success rate) |
| Successful Processing |
All successfully processed files |
| Errors |
Files with processing errors |
| Not Overwritten |
Files that were not overwritten |
| No Match |
Files that did not match any filter |
| No Text |
PDF files without recognizable text |
| Failed Retries |
Files with failed retry attempts |
Report Period
When creating the report, you can choose the time period:
| Option |
Description |
| Today |
Only entries from today |
| Yesterday |
Only entries from yesterday |
| Last X Days |
Entries from the last X days (default: 7) |
| From-To |
Custom time period |
| Unlimited |
All available entries |
Automatic Sending
The report can also be sent automatically via email. Configure this function in Program Options under Excel Report via Email.
5.4 Hide Log Entries
Hides all current log entries from the display. The entries are not deleted, only hidden. The program stores which entries are hidden in the application data. Like the log itself, this list is not part of the backup; restoring a backup leaves it unchanged.
Difference from "Delete"
| Action |
Effect |
| Hide |
Entries are removed from the view but remain in the database |
| Delete (via menu) |
Entries are permanently removed from the database |
Tip: Use "Hide" to keep the log view clear without losing log data.
5.5 Restore Log Entries
Restores previously hidden log entries. All hidden entries are displayed again in the Log List.
5.6 Minimize/Maximize Log Area
Minimizes or maximizes the log area in the main window.
| State |
Description |
| Maximized |
Log List is fully visible |
| Minimized |
Log area is hidden, only the Profile List is visible |
Tip: Minimize the log area when you are mainly working with profiles and need more space for the Profile List.
Keyboard Shortcut
The size of the log area can also be continuously adjusted by dragging the separator between the Profile List and Log List.
5.7 Searching the Log
On the right of the log toolbar you will find the Log search field. It searches the tabs Successful processing, Errors, No match, No text, Retry and Currently unprocessable at once - across every detail of an entry: profile, original and current path, attachments, tasks with target and error message, date and processing type. The search takes effect as you type; the number of matches is shown next to it.
While you search, the tabs show "matches / total", for example "Errors: 3 / 120". If all matches are on one tab, the Log List switches to it. Esc or the × button clears the search field, Enter searches immediately. The tabs Deferred processing and Processing details are not searched, and the status bar still refers to the log filter only.
Combining several terms
| Input |
Meaning |
invoice 2026 |
AND - a space combines the terms, both must occur |
invoice OR reminder |
OR - one of the terms is enough (also ODER or |) |
invoice -draft |
NOT - excludes entries containing "draft" (also NOT or NICHT) |
"not found" |
Exact phrase in quotation marks |
(invoice OR reminder) -draft |
Parentheses for grouping |
Wildcards
| Wildcard |
Meaning |
Example |
* |
any number of characters |
invo* |
? |
exactly one character |
2026-0?-15 |
Searching a specific field
With field:value you limit the search to a single field, for example folder:inbox or status:error.
| Field |
Searches |
profile: |
Profile name |
file: |
Original and current file name |
folder: |
Original and current folder |
path: |
Complete original and current path |
attachment: |
Names of the attachments contained in the PDF file |
status: (also task: or error:) |
Task lines with target, recipient and error message, and the result |
date: |
Time of processing, PDF modification date and file creation date |
type: |
Processing type: regular, retried or subsequently processed (catch-up) |
Dates are found in the displayed form and in the form year-month-day: date:2026-09 finds all entries from September 2026. Example: folder:inbox status:"not found" finds entries from an inbox folder where a file was not found. Case is always ignored; the German field names such as datei: or ordner: work as well.
| Button |
Function |
| Funnel icon |
"Respect log filter" (on by default): if a log filter is set, the search only looks at the entries the filter shows. Switched off, it also finds the hidden entries. Without any search text the log filter always applies. |
.* |
Searches with a regular expression across all details of an entry (for advanced users). An invalid expression is marked red and filters nothing. |

5.8 Tips for Log Usage
Regular Review
Regularly review the Log List to: - Detect errors early - Monitor processing - Identify unexpected results
Error Analysis
When there are errors in processing:
- Switch to the Errors tab in the Log List
- Double-click on the entry for details
- The error message provides hints about the cause
- Check the Profile Settings
With the Log search you find all entries with the same message, for example status:"access denied".
Report Creation for Audits
Use the Excel report function to: - Document processing statistics - Create evidence for audits - Analyze trends over longer periods
