This online tool allows you to create web-safe file names. For this, spaces are replaced by the specified punctuation characters (we recommend a hyphen or underscore). Moreover, umlauts are replaced by their web-safe equivalents, such as the "ü" by "U". The remaining unsafe characters will be URL encoded. Finally, all the letters are converted to lowercase. This ensures that the file names meet the requirements on Windows servers as well as on Linux servers.

Instructions for using the tool

First, add the file names to be edited into the text box. In the next step, select the option for replacing the spaces contained. You can replace spaces by an user-defined character such as the hyphen or an underscore. Finally, just click on the button labeled "Make file names web-safe" to start the conversion process.
